That sounds like a bold claim right?!
Well, let me explain.
You may or may not know that I’m sort of into my spiritual health stuff (if the yoga teacher and mindfulness/meditation training doesn’t give it away). And you probably hear me talk about addressing the mind, body, soul/spirit equally – whether you’re addressing health, weight or life.
And lately, I’ve actually not been practising enough of the self-care practices that got me well in the first place. I’ve been pouring from an empty cup, whilst trying to grow a business and with lots of stuff going on. 2016 was one heck of a year for me and it’s continued into 2017.
And I’ve been noticing the difference.
How stress, anxiety, fatigue, brain chatter (that “monkey mind”) and overwhelm sneakily creep back in.
And before you know it, you feel like you’re back to square one.
BUT you’re not back to square one.
Because if you remember the practices and tools that enabled you to get out of a situation in the first place, then you can pick those back up again.
If you haven’t yet learned any useful self-care strategies, then my friends, you are in for a treat.
One of my dear friends, Hayat, who is a spiritual teacher and energy healing practitioner (don’t let the woo-woo words put you off) introduced me to Justin Perry of You Are Creators. When I say introduced, I don’t mean in actual person (yet), just via the wonders that are social media. You will find he has a big following on YouTube and Instagram.
So towards the end of 2016, I started watching his videos and I made it a habit to watch one whilst eating dinner or in the bath. They vary in length, which is another great thing because sometimes you only have 5 mins and other times you have 20.
The video I came across the other day had the title of this blog post:
The 30 Day Challenge That Will Change Your Life!
Quite simply, for 30 days, you think, write and speak about 30 things you are grateful for…starting with the words “I love”.
However, for each new day, you choose 30 new things.
So if you’re like me and you love your bed, you can only say that one time. However, you can say “I love my bed”, “I love my pillows”, “I love my duvet” and those all count as separate items. Already 3 things you are grateful for before you even get out of bed in the morning! Imagine adding on “I love my partner/spouse”, “I love my kids”, “I love my dog/cat” (these may/may not share the bed)
I started this a couple of days ago and immediately I noticed a shift in both my physical and mental energy.
In case you’re not aware, love has the highest frequency of all and yes everything is energy. That’s not woo-woo. That’s a fact. Google “Quantum Physics”.
Expressing Gratitude and Love can be one of the simplest, yet most profound things you can do for your health and life.
I encourage you to try this out. I will report back after 30 days and let you know how the full experience went. I can say though that after only a couple of days, I notice big changes.
Like anything in life, you can be given the information, but the proof of the pudding is in the experience. This is an experiential challenge. Just try it and you may be pleasantly surprised.
